Given that many of you will be covering a significant distance to get to Belgrade, we want to take the opportunity to spend as much time with you as possible during our wedding weekend. So, here is the plan. We will be posting any updates here, so check back as the dates near.
Saturday, 21 August 2010
We know how hectic wedding days can be. That's why we want to host something more laid-back the day before.
What: Welcome BBQ/picnic
Where: Restaurant Oaza on Ada Ciganlija (check out Ada's location on the map under Visiting Belgrade).
What time: In the afternoon, from 5pm on. Typical Serbo-Bulgarian BBQ fare will be served from 6 pm on. As we've said before, we will be there for at least 3-4 hours so you can come whenever you feel like it. Bring a swimsuit, if you'd like to take a dip in the lake. A hat and sunblock might be a good idea as well.
Directions: Grab a taxi and tell the taxi driver to drop you off at the main entrance of Ada. Most cab drivers should speak at least some English, but if you are having some trouble, the Serbian for that is: "Do Ade, glavni ulaz". Once at the main entrance (with blue kiosks), you have two options for getting to the restaurant: 1) take the tourist train (5 mins) or 2) walk (15-20 mins). By the way, there is no entrance fee to Ada for pedestrians.
--By tourist train:
From the main entrance, continue following the road to the stop of the tourist train, marked #1 Ada Voz, located near a big map of the island. Take the train for two stops to stop #3. Once you get off the train, walk back on the road for about 20 m (60 ft). You will see the restaurant (Restaurant Oaza) with wooden tables and green sun umbrellas that say "Pils Plus" on them to your left. The train ticket costs 70 dinars (approx. 0.70 EUR) and it should run quite frequently.
--On foot:
From the main entrance, continue following the road to a traffic circle; take the road to the left. Keep walking, you will see soccer asphalt fields to the right and a bicycle rental center to the left. At the fork right past the bike center, take a left. Keep walking, the road will get narrower at one point, keep walking. You will then see tennis courts to your right and a little bit later a mini golf place and then the beach to your left. Keep walking until you see a bunch of wooden tables with green sun umbrellas that say "Pils Plus" on them to your right. This should be the restaurant (Restaurant Oaza). We will be right up front. If you reach the tourist train stop #3 (Ada Voz), then you have walked too far. The restaurant is approximately 20 m (60 ft) behind you.
If at any point you get lost, call us. Our numbers are:
Denitza: +381 62 837 4087 (from a Belgrade phone you dial 062 837 4087)
Milos: +381 63 786 7914 (from a Belgrade phone: 063 786 7914)
What should I know: In addition to just hanging out and enjoying food and beer, you can also swim (so bring your swimsuit!), water-ski, bungee-jump, play tennis, soccer, table-tennis, beach volleyball, and apparently also enjoy the freedom of a nudist beach. We will try to organize some games. So, plan accordingly.

Other information
Taxis from the airport: For those of you arriving by air, taxis from the airport to the city center should cost around 1100-1200 dinars (11-12 EUR) and no more than 1500 dinars.
While waiting for your bags, check out the Belgrade Tourist Association stand near the baggage claim. It offers several tourist brochures. We found "Cool Belgrade" to be the most informative one. We will have a number of copies and maps for you as well, just in case.
